Pottergate Mews Cottage is just off the main market square of the medieval market town of Helmsley, a short walk from the centre. Helmsley is a picture-perfect Yorkshire settlement with plenty to do and see. Visit the remains of Helmsley Castle, see the amazing wildlife at the National Centre for Birds of Prey, pick something up from the many unique independent shops, relax at a traditional inn or contemporary café, or just take a wander and see what you find.
North York Moors
The town of Helmsley is superbly situated on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, providing the perfect opportunity for anyone who'd like to spend some time exploring the scenic rugged landscape nearby. If you need a little direction, the Cleveland Way and Ebor Way walking trails both start in Helmsley. Don't forget that the cottage is pet-friendly - your dog is sure to love the long moorland walks! The Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is also not far from the town.
