North York Moors

The endless expanse of the North York Moors is yours to explore during a stay here. Take a hike or ride a bike across this rugged terrain, particularly noted for its striking heather moorland scenery.

The views across the Yorkshire’s countryside are unrivalled, and it’s located in a recognised dark sky area, where the stars can be seen clearly due to lack of light pollution. Stargazing equipment can be hired for £7.50 per night.

If you’d like to enjoy the spectacular surroundings without going far, take advantage of the south-facing courtyard and the garden and BBQ area, both with plenty of outdoor furniture. There’s also a kids’ play area.

Animal magic

Watch the local wildlife by hiring a spotting scope, binoculars and nature books for £4.50 per day (do book ahead). Or meet the goats, ducks and hens on the farm, and even feed them (by prior arrangement).

Convenient amenities

To help with walking and cycling holidays, there are on-site facilities such as a drying room for wet coats and muddy boots, and bike storage with basic tools where you can even rent a bike (pre-arrangement only).

See the scenery of the moors in style and comfort with a ride on a classic steam train along the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Hop on board at Pickering Station, less than a 15-minute drive from Rawcliffe House Farm, and enjoy a ride as far as the seaside town of Whitby.
