What to Do
Local beaches
Suited for a seaside holiday, the beaches of St Ives each have their own appeal. Porthmeor is popular with swimmers and surfers, gorgeous Porthminster is conveniently central, Harbour Beach is perfect for family relaxation, Porthgwidden is nicely sheltered, and Bamaluz Beach is dog-friendly all year.
Minack Theatre
This incredible open-air theatre was built as a labour of love by one woman over many decades. With stunning views across the Porthcurno cliffs it sits atop and the sea beyond, it's worth the journey here to take in a play or just to enjoy walking around the theatre and its beautiful surroundings.
Land's End
The iconic location of Land's End is widely known as the most southwesterly point of mainland England, and anyone who wants to say they've paid a visit to both "ends" of Great Britain (as well as Scotland's John O'Groats) won't want to miss their chance to take a trip down here during a St Ives holiday.
Seal Island
3.5 miles west of St Ives you'll find the Western Carracks, better known as Seal Island for the resident colony of grey seals. There are regular boat trips from St Ives Harbour, which take you past a number of local landmarks and then allow you to view these animals in their natural environment.

For casual cuisine with great sea views and tasty seafood, Porthminster Beach Café is not to be missed. Vegetarians and vegans will definitely want to pay a visit or two to the Bean Inn, and for delicious meals cooked using local ingredients try The Loft, located in the artists' quarter.

St Ives is known for its art scene, with a number of famous modern artists having made their homes here. Be sure to visit the famous Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Gardens, but don't miss out on exploring the many independent galleries in town, too.
For Activities
A holiday in St Ives is the perfect opportunity to hit the surf. Nearby Porthmeor Beach is particularly noted as a surfing hotspot, and there's a surf school there that's perfect for getting started with watersports. You can also borrow body boards from the cottages if you'd like to give that a try.
