Nyland Lodge makes a great place for a countryside break, with a range of stylish modern features that make this eco-lodge something really special. Located near Cheddar in Somerset, it combines country and contemporary living to make an idyllic holiday destination for two.

Step into the spacious open-plan living room, with floor-to-ceiling windows to keep things bright and airy, and you’ll know right away that you’re in for a treat. With comfortable furniture for four, including a sofa and an armchair alongside a coffee table and further nested tables, you’ll have plenty of places to sit when entertaining yourself with the wall-mounted 46” Bang and Olufsen TV, which comes complete with a smart Blu-Ray player and Apple TV.

From here you can head to the kitchen area, which is well equipped with everything you need, including an electric oven with hob, warming tray and extractor, a microwave, a fridge-freezer, a kettle, a toaster, a dishwasher, and even a built-in wine cooler. Sit down at the breakfast bar to enjoy a fresh brew made with the Krups Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machine or the cafetière, or savour a meal at the two-person dining table.

You’ll find it hard to resist a lie-in with the comfort of the bedroom, with its super-king-size bed, which boasts underfloor heating and is open-plan with the rest of the lodge. It also includes a wall-mounted flatscreen TV, a walk-in wardrobe with a dressing table and mirror, and bedside tables and lamps.

The en-suite bathroom is a stylish, contemporary space where you can enjoy a soak in a freestanding bath with LED spotlights or wash off in the walk-in rainfaill shower. Other amenities include a mirror with motion-controlled lights, a washbasin with a shaver socket, a heated towel rail, and a WC.

On summer days and warm evenings, you’re certain to find yourself spending your time outside on the wraparound decked terrace, which sparkles with the LED lighting around its sides. This superb private space is ideal for enjoying the views and features a sunken hot tub where you can soothe your cares away, as well as a breakfast table, and a three-person rattan sofa with coffee table which sits beneath a lovely starlight roof.

Head out of your lodge and you can enjoy the grounds of the Strawberryfield Park resort, which include a lovely little orchard and extensive parkland area which are open to guests. Don’t miss your chance to sample some Somerset scrumpy at the Cider Barn, either. The park is also perfectly located for visiting the famous village of Cheddar and the many nearby tourist attractions.
